World coffee exports down 9 percent in April

World coffee exports amounted to 9.43 million bags in April 2015, down 8.9 percent from 10.35 million bags in April 2014, according to ICO’s monthly data. Robusta exports fell 16.2 percent to 3.528 million bags.

Arabicas recorded a less pronounced decline (-3.8 percent) to 5.904 million.

In terms of the groups, only Colombian Milds recorded an increase in volumes of 14.6 percent, Other Milds were almost flat on year (-0.1%), while and Brazilian Milds were down 12.4 percent.

Exports in first seven months of coffee year 2014/15 (Oct/14 to Apr/15) fell by 3.8 percent in comparison with the first seven months of the last coffee year. Export of Arabicas fell 4 percent to 38.695 million bags, while exports of Robustas were down 3.4 percent to 24.061 million bags.

Colombian Milds were again the only group recording a rise in exports (+3.3 percent), while shipments of Other Milds and Brazilian Naturals decreased 7.8 and 4.4 percent respectively.

In the twelve months ending April 2015, exports of Arabicas totalled 67.31 million bags compared to 68.92 million bags last year, whereas Robusta exports amounted to 44.15 million bags compared to 44.39 million bags.
