LONDON, UK – World coffee exports amounted to 10.81 million bags in March 2018, compared with 10.91 million in March 2017 reports the International Coffee Organization in its latest monthly figures.
This is a 0.9% decrease year-on-year. Shipments of Arabica were down 5.6% to 6.334 million bags, while Robusta exports expanded 6.7% to 4,477 million. This is mainly due to higher volumes from Vietnam, whose exports rose a whopping 31.9% to 3.3 million bags.
Exports from all other major producing countries posted negative figures, with the exception of Honduras.
Exports during the first 6 months of coffee year 2017/18 (Oct/17 to Mar/18) have decreased by 0.6% to 59.96 million bags compared to 60.32 million bags in the same period in the last coffee year.Volumes of Arabica were down by 1.4% to 37.976 million bags. Only Other Milds recorded a positive trend (+5.8%), while Colombian Milds and Brazilian Naturals fell by 10.1% and 2.2% respectively. Robusta exports rose marginally (+0.9%) to 22 million bags.
