A comparison of coffee prices in 75 cities around the world places four Swiss cities in the top five. At an average price of CHF 3.47, Zurich came out top, followed by Copenhagen (3.22), Basel (3.21), Bern (3.07) and Geneva (3.02).

The best prices were in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paolo in Brazil, just CHF 1.00 for a caffeine fix.

The survey conducted by servicepartner.one, looked at coffee prices in the office, at Starbucks, in coffee shops, and at home.

The main driver behind the high cost in Swiss cities was the price of a coffee at Starbucks: CHF 6.77. The offending reference cup was a Starbuck’s Grande Latte.

Homemade coffees were more expensive in Jakarta (0.71), Lisbon (0.56) and Istanbul (0.56), than in Switzerland (0.55). Jakarta was also ahead on office coffee prices: 0.86 vs 0.66, while Copenhagen led on coffee shop prices (CHF 6.42) versus CHF 5.87 in Zurich. Out of Swiss cities, Geneva offered the best coffee shop prices: CHF 4.08.

While Swiss cities led on price they were much lower down the ranking for consumption. Helsinki came out top here with average annual consumption of 9.6 kgs of coffee. All four Swiss cities managed average annual consumption of 3.9 kgs.
